Dogs do not foul their living quarters out of spite. If there is an emotion behind a lapse in housebreaking, it's anxiety (arising from the unfamiliar situation).

A few things come to mind. Where was the ulcer located that was removed a couple years ago? Could she be experiencing some lingering issues or could her bladder have been damaged during that surgery? Has she always done this or was she perfectly housebroken and this has happened in recent weeks/months, etc?

What I would do:
Limit her eating to twice a day. Leave food down for 20 min and if she doesn't eat, she doesn't eat. I would remove her water about an hour before you go to bed and make sure she goes out and pees.
Check the UTI again, just to be sure.

Or...she could just be mad at you. I went out of town and let a friend, who my dog knew, stay at my house as a dogsitter. She was walked, she was loved on, she still got to sleep in our bed. Once I got home, she peed every friggin chance she got in the same damn spot. I would leave for 20 min, let her out to pee, she would pee while I was gone. I finally just got to the point where I would put down papers with plastic underneath so the carpet wouldn't get wet. She only stopped when I finally moved out of that house.

No water for dog after 7pm, if she seems thirsty give her an ice chip; skew dinner earlier; what time is the morning walk - it seems the dog goes to BR after 2am but before whatever time you walk her in am; maybe try walks at midnight, 5am and 7am instead of 9pm, 2am and 7am.

My FIL never bothered to train his dog, so we've turned to belly bands (the dog poops outside, but pees EVERYWHERE).

Since you've got twice the problem, try diapers.

Get her checked again to make sure the UTI is in fact gone.

Spayed dogs can have incontinence problems in general. There is a relatively cheap med she can take to help, if that's the problem.

Do you feed her at certain times of day, or do you just leave food out? Limiting food to twice a day will help make her more regular (pooping), so you can time a walk better.

Make sure she's getting enough exercise (I'd say at least an hour of brisk walks a day) plus more outside breaks for bathroom.

Clean the spots she is soiling thoroughly with something like Simple Solution or Nature's Miracle. They break down the smell and get rid of it so she's less likely to wet in the same place.

Rewards and tons of praise when she goes outside.

Piddle pads? It won't solve the peeing/pooping in the house issue, but she'll hopefully keep it contained to the pad.

- 5 year old Spayed Boxer
- Had an ulcer removed in June 2010
- Had a urinary tract infection 4 weeks ago, which has been cleared with antibiotics

The problem: she pees and or poos on the carpets in the house every single night EVEN THOUGH we get up and let her out to pee before bed (9pm or so) and again at about 2am. We tried to crate train her as a puppy but she never took to the crate as her "home" and she barks and is simply hysterical in there if we leave her in it (not conducive to sleeping at night) and she also poos and pees in her crate.

- even if we walk her before bed and get up to let her pee during the night, we still wake to pee and poo on the floor
- we have 2 small children, so things like watching her like a hawk all night aren't really sustainable solutions for us

Any other ideas?
