We used to live in the Abingdon district. My neighbor - a Harvard-educated lawyer - chose to opt out and sent her kids to Glebe Rd Elemntary. Another family we know lives literally adjacent to Abingdon and instead sends their kids to private school. Now, having said that, my feeling is that ALL Arlington schools are good schools. Our daughter goes to Randolph, where 70% of the kids are FARMs. But it's still a very good school. I would not worry too much but would definitely get involved at the school as much as you can, so that if any issues arise, you'll be well-informed.

Abingdon has its own unique program focus, as many Arlington schools do. Abingdon has an architecture program that I've heard about. I do know that a few years ago, when APS was considering budget cuts to school programs, Abingdon parents came out in force to support their Project Gift program. Here's the school's website:

We just moved to Arlington and our daughter will be attending Abington next year. I checked the threads and didn't see any information on this school. While I can't change the fact that she'll go there (private isn't an option) I would love honest (both good and bad) opinions on your experiences with this school. Thanks!
