Closet thing or lack of closet space seems to predominate this area. Where I grew up in the northeast, same size homes had more closets. There was always a closet, decent size, right next to the door for coats and everyone had a basement and at least a one car garage. Fortunately we do have a finished basement but no closets by the doors

Front hall closet is too small.

Does that seem petty of me? It's a minor irritant, but it's also a consistent one.

Four levels. Kids bedrooms on the top floor, laundry in the basement. At least the kids are getting old enough to carry their own laundry baskets (if I can stand waiting for them to actually do it!)

Need more closet space, hardwoods need to be redone, damage to bedroom ceiling from water...to be fixed tomorrow, roof fixed this past Monday. Also floor in bedroom half is hardwoods in pretty good condition, half is floor board. It was covered by a rug but it was dirty and gross. Ks before and tons of out of town guests and family! That is my next goal. Also on my wish list is a tankless hot water heater. We have 2 full bathrooms but I wish we had an extra half on the first floor. 1920 s Craftsman Bungalow.

I feel your pain. I'd deal with this one ASAP however if it's a fire hazard. Unfortunately a new electric box is $2,500 or so depending on size of the house.

The mortgage.

Wall-to-wall plush white carpet in the kids' bathroom. The carpet is bad in the other rooms too, but it really needs to be ripped out of that bathroom.

Pantry the size of a shoebox. Putting groceries away puts me in the worst mood because I've got no where to put everything. Can't make it bigger so I've just got to deal.

- needs a new roof and facia boards and gutters
- needs a new floor and ceiling in the basement
- lead paint on outdoor railing and trim
- my kids (oops, did I say that out load?)
- needs a new water heater
- fuse box (yep, "fuse" box) should be updated
- no insulation in most of the walls and no way to get it in there

- huge dying tree hanging over my house (est. +$5k to remove)

Only one bathroom upstairs - "kids bathroom" is not in our vocabulary.

Washer and dryer are in opposite corners of our unfinished basement.

Kids bathroom is vented by a window instead of an exhaust fan -- oh yeah, and that the window is in the middle of the shower (sigh)

Can you use a basket? I was frustrated by clutter around my washer and dryer so we store everything on top of the dryer (they are stacked.) This includes a little basket full of dryer sheets, stain remover etc. I like it.

As for our place: carpet that desperately needs replaced and really dirty nooks and crannies in the kitchen, behind appliances and such. We rent.

Name one feature that annoys you the most about your current house, and whether or not you plan to renovate/address it.

For us, it's our laundry room. The laundry room is a perfect square, which makes it an awkward space (as opposed to a rectangle), and is tiny (the size of a large powder room), and since it also serves as our mudroom it is very difficult to do laundry because there is no room for anything other than for one laundry basket. It's also difficult when coming in the door with groceries, since it's so small. There are no cabinets or counters so we store our laundry detergent on the floor. I'd love to address this issue, but don't really know how as there isn't really another area to move the washer and dryer to.
