Actually it sounds like they have a policy of defunding anything under investigation, and a Congressman's action tripped that requirement. Rules like that should be respected.

Penn State still gets funds from SKF.

when even the Huffington Post is calling into question the Komen foundation, maybe it would have been better if they had not changed their minds and just kept their money.

The silver lining in this, is all of the smaller groups who support BC research who are benefiting from people finally realizing that Komen is more about politics then helping women.

Komen is a right wing group. It is funny how the press says they were forced to cave to anti-abortion agenda.

BS. Any reasonably well connected group can get a Congressional investigation launched. It simply depends on who is in power, etc. The Congressional investigation of PP here is nothing more than a political move. The investigation is about whether PP complied with Federal law. At the moment, there is no evidence that PP has not. SK looks completely weak if that is the real basis for its decision.

Wouldn't that contradict the presumption of innocence that underlies our system?

Plagued? Seriously, there have been some people who griped about it. But plagued?

My guess is that SK will come to regret this decision. SK is a great brand that attracts a broad spectrum of the public. The brand has been damaged here. I understand that it relates to a senior SK officer who has tea party connections.

A mountain out of a molehill:

'Planned Parenthood spends $1 billion annually, so the $680,000 it says it got from Komen last year is just a tiny fraction of the budget. The organization says 19 affiliates are affected and it is moving quickly to recoup the lost revenue. Already in hand: a $250,000 donation from the family foundation of Dallas oilman/philanthropist Lee Fikes and his wife, Amy"

What do you think Komen is hiding?

This decision was made too quickly by Komen. The simple fact that some random chair of a Congressional committee initiated an investigation is a pretty low bar. In today's political environment, Congress can always initiate an investigation, regardless of evidence of illegal activities. It simply depends on who controls the relevant house of Congress. Moreover, the attacks on PP are purely political, without substance.
