We are choosing to apply only to the schools we really liked and that we know our DD will love. While we have a first choice in mind we will have to accept a spot in whichever school offers us financial aid. Is there a way to either diplomatically state this or is it best to skirt the issue altogether? We have been advised by a friend who has gone though the process to just tell all they are our first choice, this somehow does not feel right. Any and all advice is appreciated.

We've been through several interviews now & expected all sorts of tough questions. The most common, however, and often the main focus of the interview: What questions do YOU have for us? Can be challenging to have enough questions that hit the right note -- showing knowledge of the school, positive thoughts about the school, but still interested in getting more info., without hinting at ambivalence about the school. Second most common: we see your child has applied to x schools. How are you going to decide/what criteria will you use?

16:09, DH and I once got into small spat on this. He wanted me to dress more casually (he was wearing a suit), but I refused. I had to go into work right after the interview, so I was not going home to change. I was in suit as I had a lot of meetings out of the office that day - not like I was rocking a red carpet dress.

Wear whatever looks ok, matches the culture of the school, and feels comfortable. I honestly don't think the ADs are making notes that say "nice family but dad was in khakis - reject"!

How about attire? DH does not work at a suit-wearing job. Should he still wear a suit or does that look fake/desperate/pretentious? (I'm assuming the AD can tell from the application info that he would not wear a suit to work)

We were asked what other schools we applied to on our interview with a DCUM big 3. And this was more like an oh btw at the end. We also casually mentioned volunteering time, but no mention of money was ever made.

What are your goals for your child for the next academic year. If yours and the school's are miles apart, everyone is going to end up unhappy.

Tell me something about your child that was not included in the application.
Describe one of your child's weaknesses (I said DD was 1 month from cutoff and therefore typically the youngest in the grade).
