I am sure the letter is made up by the WaPo. They often fabricate stories to generate a particular response from its readers.

That must be a made-up letter.

I loved Miss Manners' response. I met her (real name Judith Martin) once in person and her manner of speaking was the same as her writing. It seems like that could be annoying, but it was charming.

I love my MIL, but also happy she lives almost 1000 miles away.

That letter was great! It sure made me smile. I hope that the letter was a joke though. The MIL seems horrible.

Not crazy enough to be my MIL, but funny and pathetic. My in-laws consider complaining a favorite passtime and hobby. I think they look forward to seeing eachother just to have some new stuff to complain about.

That is AwESOME!!! I can't believe my MIL wrote to miss manners - and interesting how she changed some details -my mother is very much alive, but do you wish her dead? And how she made me tall instead of short! Funny! I like how she was clever enough to do that - wouldn't have expected it from the old hag, but people sure do surprise you!
