I'd check out the mumsnet baby names forum if you want to avoid trendy names. They seem to be a couple years ahead of US trends in the UK.

I agree that you should go with whatever name you like, even if it's popular, but the ones I'm personally a little sick of: Jack, Oliver, Ethan, Alexander, Max, and Finn is getting there. Can't get over the Finn/Glee connection...

If it is a favorite of yours, who cares? I have a 12 year old Jack. Some people said it was too trendy then..long trend..I still love the name!

If you want to know what's popular nationally or by State, look at the Social Security list. Of course, those lists won't be an exact reflection of what's popular in the greater DC region or in your neighborhood.
