Yes, you could replace stuff cheaply for $50k, but if you're buying a $2 million house, you're not (i) cheaping out on door pulls, or (ii) DIY painting your house.

Love the house. Hard to say about the quality of the kitchen cabinets--but the handles could be easily replaced, as could the outdated tile and the older appliances for under $50K.

Paint is also cheap to change.

I would offer $1.8 based upon $/sq ft comps. It is way overpriced as it currently stands.

My MIL would love the decor. In fact I think she has a very similar kitchen, also remodeled in the late 1980s.

Great location, excellent bones, and the best listing photography I have ever seen (nice use of wide-angle lens) but I have to question this price for needing:

1. At least $200,000 to properly equip a completely new kitchen. Seriously, what's with the existing plastic hardware on the 1980's cabinets?

2. About $100,000 of assorted painting and small remodeling/updating work.

This house is on a smaller lot for the neighborhood, so there's no extra punch there. Still, excellent house. If I had the money or inclination, I'd offer $1.8, thinking $2 is probably a fair price. Will be interested to see where this actually trades.

Clearly you live far out in Virginia or Maryland. Probably in a new house in a subdivision too, right?

I like it and think it priced in the right price range (I actually think it is a bit overpriced based on the comps). Some people love that neighborhood, but personally it is too far from what DC offers for me. In that regard the biggest problem selling it will be that there is a limited buyer market who wants to live in that neighborhood (on the plus side the price is comparable for the other properties that a buyer in that market would purchase).

Very nice, however I would not count a room that can only be accessed via the master bdrm as a bdrm.

I like it and it seems fairly priced. However, personally, I prefer a more updated floorplan with the kitchen towards the back of the house opening to the family room. The family room (sunroom) seems to be isolated in the back of the house.

Great space, a lot of charm. The landscaping is very well done. Looks like Honeysuckle, the Pantone 2011 color of the year, a reddish pink in the library. Fantastic neighborhood.

What I like about it: 1940's style old home with feeling
Worries: 1940: Asbestos and lead, cracks foundation, rats
I personally do not like red paint, but does not look too bad inthis house
Was that wall paper in the dining room?
