I saw a program that did an investigation into those donation dumpsters. Turns out they are private companies that take the clothes overseas and sell them to people in developing countries. No charity and certainly no US charities involved. Pure profit.

Maybe a women's shelter or someplace like Reston Interfaith?

I have some adult and baby winter coats to donate and was wondering if there is a better place to take them than Goodwill - i.e., somewhere where someone in need of a coat might get it right away, versus Goodwill which I believe sells them in their stores so it might sit there for awhile. Any suggestions in northern VA - preferably close in?
