OP, I did not respond to your original post as my child also is part of a magnet program so I can't speak to the school as a whole. I will add that a parent recently sent a copy of a strong complaint letter to the BOE to the whole school list serve about the principal. The letter generated some chatter amongst parents and no one in my circle had any similar concerns. There was no additional list serve comment aside from a list of appropriate uses for the list serve. I just felt I had to offer contrasting information. We have been happy with the school during our time there.

My son is in one of the many special centers at Barnsley, and we are very happy with the staff, teachers, and the parents. With the exception of the Principal, Mr. Winter, who has a reputation as being a bully to parents and students. There have been some recent incidents involving him yelling at children (I've seen it first hand), and being very hard on teachers. He's only been there two or three years, and the hope is that MoCo will pay attention to the complaints and remove him. I can't speak to the neighborhood, as we live out of bounds. But if the parents are any indication, it seems like a nice area.

I'm looking to move and the area around Lucy Barnsley ES is a possibility. Any wisdom, opinions, advice about the school? What about Earle Wood MS? My son is in K now if that matters.
Also, if you know about the school, do you have any wisdom about neighborhoods that the school serves?
Thanks.
