** sigh **

This is a rough process for parents and kids alike.

On the TPMS calendar they show an open house for invited families on 2/15: http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/schools/takomaparkms/administration/calendar.aspx

So presumably they will have mailed the letters by then, with a few days to spare! This is consistent with an email that went out to magnet families maybe a month ago, asking for food donations for the teachers who were going to spend a marathon session going over decisions.

My DD standardized tests put her in the 99th percentile in math but her reading is about 1 yr above grade level and she doesn't bring home straight As in grammer/spelling etc. We didn't apply to the HGC as she is happy and challenged where she is. I love the idea of letting her pursue her math/science interests in middle school. Do you think she stands a chance?

I think the writing and reading were easier than the math. Good luck to her.

Last year, the first acceptances were received on February 9. The wait list and rejection letters were received a few days later.

Any idea if they are usually on target with the beginning of February, as stated in the meetings?
