(1) Are you part-time, full-time, flexible schedule? Do you ever work from home? How much flexibility do you have? Do you keep 9-5 hours or a different schedule?
Full time; work 80 hours every two weeks - fair amount of flexibility so long as I'm there "core" hours (9:30-3:00)
(2) What is your stress level? Are you challenged by your job?
Usually not too stressed; challenged enough - can always add challenge if I like.
(3) Do you feel like you are a better or more "present" parent because of your job?
Yes
(4) Are the benefits all that they are hyped up to be?
Huh? Medical is good. Maternity non-existent. Leave is average. 1%/year pension sounds cool, in theory. "Benefit" of an interesting job with non-killer hours definitely meets they hype!
(5) Do you ever wish that you worked at a firm? Why or why not?
Been there, done that, soooo glad I don't ever have to do it again!
(6) Are you happy with your job and home life (and so-called work-life balance)?
I honestly don't think it could be better (and still work full time)
(7) Is there anything that you would do differently knowing what you know now?

(1) FT 7:30-3:30, very flexible hours as long as I hot 40 hrs week. I could go in at 6 and leave at 2. I telecommute one day a week
(2) Low stress - pretty much the opposite of my firm life where I was taking Xanax multiple times per week and drinking nyquil every night. My work is interesting, much less pressure though so less of a rush/sense of importance.
(3) HELL YES. I am now a functioning full time parent.
(4) They are secure. Good health insurance, OK retirement, job security and peace of mind are well worth it.
(5) I miss the money. I make about 1/4 what I made in big law. No more safaris or dreams of a beach house but I can live with that.
(6) YES
(7) I miss the money. If I stayed big law private school and a second home would have been easy for us... neither are in the picture now. I am ok with that in general but sometime I am down on myself when I think about it.
