PP again---oh, and the only time we see "wet" dried blood v. crusty blood is when he has a runny nose---bet the crying could lead to the same end.

We have this with our 3-month-old and ped is similarly unconcerned---says try a humidifier and saline drops, and only worry if blood turns bright red. Humidifier does seem to be helping. Still disconcerting though!

I know it is time to bring out the humidifier when my son starts getting daily nose bleeds. Try one in his room and see if that stops them.

Is it a lot of blood or scant/small amounts?

Is the room humidified? The air is very dry and can cause the nasal passages to dry up and poss. cause bleeding.

I did CIO and never had a problem with nosebleeds. Both my children were winter babies too (at least when i did CIO).

Have the doc check vitamin K levels.

Sorry, I can't help, but I never had that happen. I also didn't do CIO; don't know if the crying may have something to do with it. Is there a humidifier in the room where he sleeps?

For maybe a month or so now, my little guy wakes up with dried blood coming from his nose. At his 6 month appt, the dr didn't seem concerned and said it may just be dry air. We've been letting him cry it out more at naps, and I've noticed a couple times now, that if he's crying for a while (maybe 10 mins) and I go in, his nose has some blood coming out of it.

I know the obvious answer is to call the dr and ask, but I'm curious if this is actually 'normal' or something I should be more persistent about with the dr?

Thanks!
