Agree with this.

I'm jealous of people who have a good part-time gig--not sure jealous is the right word, I'm happy for those who have such an arrangement, but I wish such jobs weren't so hard to come by.

I'm the one you quoted, and I completely agree with this. It had been my plan to go part-time by the time my son entered kindergarten, but the recession killed my income and it's no longer an option. I would LOVE a great part-time job.

Definitly not.

I started my job with the agreement that I could work from home days a week. I choose to do into the office at a minimum of 4 days a week, often I go 5.

The only time I WFH is if I'm feeling like I'm getting sick (today) or if I'm waiting on some sort of delivery/contractor to come and do some work.

I go into the office because I really do like my boss and co-workers. I also feel like I miss alot when I'm home for too many days in a row, so much happens and you learn so much about what people are working on just frmo watercooler talk.

So, no way am I jealous.

No one I know who works from home is permitted to do so with children in the house. My kids go to school and then have after care.

I think it is interesting that there is a stigma to working from home where people (like you PP) who for whatever reason feel that remote workers aren't as productive when I feel the opposite is true - I am more productive on the days I work remotely. I don't WAH on a regular schedule; however, my job is very flexible and I am permitted to WAH whenever I request it (for contractors to come in, etc.). I am more productive when I work from home because I don't visit with my co-workers. I am at my desk by myself just plugging away at the computer. Nothing to do but work. I can start earlier and work later as I don't have to commute to and from the office. I am interested for those who feel that remote workers are less productive is it because you yourself are less productive when you work from home? If that is the case you shouldn't project your own inability to manage your time on others.

I've been WAH full-time since August, and I'm surprised that I like it so much. I do miss my regular interaction with colleagues, but I talk to them every day and email constantly, so I guess it's okay. It's not the ideal, but given the flexibility I've got (and unfortunately my DH has none with his job at the moment), I have to say I can make do with the downsides.

Not me, I hate working from home. Usually not very productive plus my nanny hates it. I also like being in the office where I can bounce ideas off people. My job has ad hoc teleworking and I rarely make use of it.

I'm jealous - but not for a FT WAH job. I WAH 1 day a week and would love to increase it to 2 or even 3 days a week, but like others, I think I would find it isolating and I'd get depressed. FWIW, my kids are in school with aftercare, so it's not the situation of having little ones home with me, and I do get a lot done when I'm home. Actually, I am more productive when I WAH because I feel like I have to justify my time at home and be able to account for at least 8 hours of work while at the office, I feel like I can come on DCUM, chat with coworkers in neighboring offices, and make dr. appointments during the lunch hours because my boss sees that I'm in the office, so I don't have to prove to her I'm working. Not sure if that makes sense, but for me, I work my ass off at home...here? not so much.

WTF? No one is working from home with kids in the house and no care. Most employers require proof that you have childcare before even entertaining the idea of working from home.

I used to be jealous but just took a job that offers a LOT more flexibility, including telework and AWS. WOOOOT!

I think working from home is a double edge sword. I would not recommend working from home 100% of the time.

I used to be. Now I am one of the WAH people. (But I had to switch jobs and lose benefits in order for it to happen.)

ABSOLUTELY I am jealous. I worked from home briefly as a consultant and it was a dream. I now work in an office and while I love my job, I really miss working from home! I totally admit I am 100% jealous.

As someone who has worked from home and in an office, I have noticed that people react differently when you say that you work from home. But is it envy? jealousy?
