I second the Dr. Pearl recommendation with one caution. He is awesome, has helped us SO much, but he covers his ears (basically) whenever I bring up anything alternative that has also helped us. I don't know whether he doesn't care, doesn't believe or just doesn't know and doesn't want to start looking into anything. He is still our main doc and I suppose all neurologists are that way but I guess I was a little surprised.

Dr Robert Avery at Children's. Wonderful bedside manner, very responsive, very smart.

Dr. Phillip Pearl at Children's. Great bedside manner and super smart, which rarely go together!

I suppose it would depend on what your level of need is and what the diagnosis is. We like Scaffidi at Children's, but that was a couple of years back and we haven't needed him since. He was great with email communication which is such a rarity.

We also work with DiFazio. He came highly recommended from our physiatrist. He has a great bedside manner. The last visit though we barely saw him and were evaluated by his new assistant instead, which we were kind of annoyed by as that's not what we are paying for. I suppose it's because they felt that LO was doing well enough to not need an intense exam based on the assistant's findings, but we would have felt more comfortable if he did it himself.

I love Dr. Marc DiFazio at Capital Neurology. He has an email system set up and he always responds quickly. Refills can also be requested online. He's very accessible and a great listener.

Can anyone recommend a pediatric neurologist that they like in the DC area? Preferably one that has a good bedside manner, writes back to emails, and is easy to reach when neuro issues arise. Thanks!
