Admin asst jobs are really tough because it's a position that lots of people can qualify to do.
I'm an Exec Admin Asst myself and am trying to find a position closer to home. Although I have over 12 years experience, I don't even get responses to my resume submissions. So, my resume is either crappy or the competition is stiff. I wouldn't be surprised if folks with Masters where applying for admin positions.
Good luck to you. If you aren't too picky about salary (will start at $10-12), then you will hopefully have luck finding something quick. It seems like the jobs that pay more ($40-80k) are harder to come by and are probably going to folks with higher degrees. I even see some receptionist ads asking for a bachelor's degree!! Nutty world, huh?
