You have to be really careful with "reply all." My client's husband sent a letter to my client with a BCC to his attorney. The attorney mistankly hit "reply all" instead of "reply." his lovely email to the husband that my client also received was joking about the wife's weight, how much better he was than me, and he had me "running scared" and how much hotter the husband's girlfriend was than his wife. He was mortified when I forwarded his own email back to him!

My favorites are when someone emails an entire distribution list (whole company) in error and about 30 people reply to all "you sent this to everyone. please don't do that" or something of that nature. So then not only do you get the 1st email you get all the replies as well. Aarg. Some people are just clueless.

I just returned to the office life. I (crazily) thought that this was the "new" way to do things. Shared calendars, email to the whole office at 11:30: "I'm leaving my desk now for 30mins to an hour."

Um, I think that's called "lunch"?

Anyway, glad to hear that it is not as widely accepted as I had begun to fear.

There needs to be a two-step process for "reply all" - "Are you sure you want to tell everyone you can't make it to the meeting because you have to take your cat to the vet?" and then, "Really? You REALLY want to let everyone know about this? Okay . . . "

A little passive-aggressive, but it would make the ninny down the hall who has to let us know every single time she can't make a meeting because her car is going in the shop or whatever.

I hate when someone sends around information to a group of people, and then my inbox gets clogged with a bunch of, "Thanks!" and "Will do!" SERIOUSLY, you needed to reply all for that shit?

Is it just me that absolutely detest CCs and reply all button?. Especially at work, it makes me feel incredibly micromanaged. Fucking TPS reports. I know some people do it to cover their own ass or kiss management's ass or just to make themselves look diligent but Jesus H. Christ, stop clogging my inbox with crap that doesn't concern me. A lot of times, it reeks of passing the buck because it usually occurs when something is wrong or is about to go wrong. The writer sends the primary target the email but copies his boss, writer's boss, several minions, department managers, department chairs, managing partners, etc. ugh!. Please stop!.

God help you if you are the primary target, your mistake, no matter how minute, is exposed for the world to see and people remember that shit on your review.

If you are guilty of this, please stop, it's annoying!. and p.s., I also don't want to know that you -have a repairman coming to your house at 10;05pm on friday so you won't be in the office untill 10:32pm, but you will have to leave on monday at 5:24pm to pick up your grandmother at the airport- . For the love of God, just come in, get your work done and save us all the details.
