Obama's America. Where socialism and people need to apologize for being successful. I approve.

1) That's not socialism.

2) Economists already have a concept for excessive profit. It's called "economic rent." So, it's not like this is an entirely new idea.

The funny thing is, I don't even need to click on the link to know that you're full of shit. Question: are you one of the rubes, or one of the hucksters?

Windfall taxes are baloney.

But I also think all the subsidies these oil companies receive are also baloney. They make billions in profits each year (some are bigger than many country's GDP!), and they still keep asking for favoritism in taxes, subsidies, and loan guarantees.

Dems: I never met clean energy project I didn't like.
Reps: I never met a fossil fuel project that I didn't like.

Both just love increasing the deficits by either spending or reducing taxes with no offsetting increases elsewhere.

I am a liberal who thinks windfall profits taxes are bad economics.

But in reality it is political grandstanding since it will not pass the house. They are just doing to the Republicans what they did with the Keystone XL pipeline. Set your opponent up for a beating in the public eye.

I believe the bill also funds an annual unicorn parade.

This is one of those head-scratching moments.

The GOP is desperate to protect our "energy security" -- and yet they will oppose a windfall profits tax on the energy providers.

Just how much per gallon are you willing to hand over to Exxon shareholders?

The bill is for a windfall profits tax on oil companies aimed at preventing price gouging. You know who signed a windfall profits tax into law? Sarah Palin. So, it's not only Obama's America (a strange connection for you to make given that Obama is not a House Democrat and has no announced position on the bill), but Palin's Alaska.
