Liar! Everyone knows the only acceptable instruments for Asians are the piano and violin.

I'm irish, can I answer?
DS is in K and enjoys the stimulation of school and seems to act out if he isn't challenged. So, we do a few pages of workbooks a night. He usually asks to do them after watching some tv. Sometimes we will do 10 pages, when he gets bored with it we stop.
Nbd.
My 2 year old asks to do them now too so I bought her some too

Seriously. And we're Asian!

Not all Asians are tiger moms. I sense a troll.

I am non Asian and I was raised in a similar environment except I was not a swimmer (tennis and soccer player). My physician father forbade the playing of contact football and hockey for growing and maturing musculoskeletal systems at an early age. I had a wonderful childhood. We do not own a TV or subscribe to cable in our household. Kids love it. We have lots to do besides sitting passively on couches after school.

I'm not Asian, we don't do worksheets, and even though my kids are very smart in some subjects they will probably be lucky to get into state school someday but I think they'll end up doing well. We do have Asian friends and they do raise their kids differently. I don't think its tons of worksheets but an overall focus on behavior and academics.

Music classes early and lots of rigorous practice. Moms always pre-teach the curriculum and make sure that the child has practiced it multiple times before seeing it in school.
If the child makes a mistake on homework or in the worst possible situation a test the child must practice and repeat it multiple times. Chinese school on at least one if not both weekend days.

Swimming class is the only sport allowed. No playdates or birthday parties. No TV. Playtime involves reading or educational toys only. Home environment is very organized, clean, and sparse.

The attitude is that it is not about whether you were born smart or gifted. This doesn't matter. Perfect grades is achievable if you work hard enough. If you don't do well, it is because you are lazy and did not work hard enough.

What is a worksheet? Is this on a computer or tablet? What meets the criteria or definition for this? Or... any sheet of paper or screen demanding work of our children?
