12:45 here. I am a former dancer, so would like to try some ideas as none of the classes I can find are convenient for me. Any specific video recommendations?

I bought 3 of them for $60.00. I also go to class once a week or once every other week.

I do all the Bar Method videos and have never been to an actual class. They're pretty self-explanatory and they kuck my a$$ so I figure I'm doing them right LOL

You really need an instructor if you're a beginner. The body positioning is crucial to get the benifits and it is subtle so unless you're a former dancer you'll probably not be able to achieve proper allignment from watching the video. Getting your body positioned properly and keeping it that way while doing the movements is the hardest part.

Just curious, why would someone mind being with skinny ballerinas?

I wouldn't but some people are more sensitive about their body image and might feel uncomfortabe surrounded by very lean and fit dancers in leotards when they are already unhappy about their weight or fitness status.

This seems like an obvious answer though...what gives?

Not obvious to me and I'm a mom with a mom's body...not a ballerina body, big butt, thinghs, and hips. If I'm out to exercise, not be the fatty in a wet t-shirt contest.

barmethod on H street- across from cuba libre
great workout but there are alot of size 0 girls so it can be intimidating even if you are fit but not a size zero
