We moved to Baltimore from DC 2 years ago and I'll take it any day over the other two. (Though it helps a ton that DH works in Baltimore and I WAH. I hope to not have to deal with the Baltimore job market.)

Just moved out of Baltimore after living in the city for ten years and thank the Lord every day that I got out. A highlight would be last year when I was heavily pregnant, unobstrusively walking down the sidewalk and minding my own business, when some crazy man got in my face and yelled "F^% You B&*."

I know these things can happen anywhere, but they happen with a higher frequency in Baltimore than elsewhere, I swear.

speaking of VA Beach, this would be my choice for all three.

I would pick Richmond
Virginia Beach a 2 h car ride away

When we were househunting in NoVA last summer, we ran across a house where the neighbor had a bigass Confederate flag hanging on the front of his house. I don't think that was helping this house to sell AT ALL. We wound up buying in the same neighborhood, but nowhere near rude Conferate flag dude (we know he was rude because he came outside and started yelling at us for parking near his house for the 5 minutes we were inside the house with our realtor)

Since Richmond was the Confederate capital, it doesn't surprise me. I definitely agree that anyone who flys a Confederate flag proudly is not someone I really want to know, but it does at least make a small bit of sense in Richmond.

Baltimore for all 3, no contest. I grew up in Baltimore and now live in DC. DC has much to offer, but Baltimore is such a great town. The people are very friendly and way more down to earth. I have family in Richmond and it is a very Southern, high maintenance life style.

another vote for Baltimore for all three. Richmond would be 2nd. DC sucks.

I am too low-maintenance to do any of the three in Richmond. My get-ready routine is about 6 minutes long and my hair is its natural color, etc.

I see plusses and minuses of Baltimore and DC. I love the idea of living in Baltimore by the Inner Harbor. Camden Yards and Fells Point would be fun. I could get a lot more house for the money. BUT, there are more museums in downtown DC and the work is more plentiful. If work wasn't an issue, I'd go to Baltimore.

I haven't thought much about Richmond. I haven't liked the parts I've been in very much.

None of the three, they are all in the South.
