I agree with above advice but would add that wiping your refrigerator's inside walls/shelves with a mild solution of baking soda and water will help remove any lingering odors.

The smell is the off gassing of the decaying meat. The smell will not spred the rot. But, even if the other products are okay, they may taste like rotten meat.(like a cut onion will flavor butter) I would be very careful and just clean the place out and start over.

Can you eat other food in the refrigerator and freezer if meat that had gone bad in the refrigerator for a week before it was removed and the smell got everywhere including in the kitchen? Did it spoil the other food?
