Gettysburg is a good suggestion although I found in winter we drove around and got in and out of a car a lot. The BW has reasonably priced suites overlooking the square with jacuzzi tubs and fireplaces. Battlefield B&B is rustic (farm animals, country/historic decor) nice farmland around it, great breakfast with a morning talk by a re-enactor.

Five Gables or Inn at Perry Cabin or any nice B&B in St. Michael's (maritime museum, nice restaurants), a nice B&B or hotel in Charlottesville or Orange, Va (do Montpelier if you go.)
If you like the Inn at Little Washington area you might like a nice weekend rental in Sperryville or near Etlan and you could do as much as you felt like walking at the waterfall trails.
Downtown old Leesburg (don't laugh!) has some cute shops and places to eat, it's close, and you can go walking at Sky Meadows or drive up to the mountains. We took a babymoon to the lower Eastern Shore and found nice B&Bs in the Cape Charles area. It's over 4 hours by car though. Maybe Berlin, MD and a winter walk at Assateague?
Baltimore and Philly are always fun.

We just did this-- we went to La'Auberge Provencale in White Post (near Winchester). We absolutely loved it. They have a fantastic restaurant right there. We stopped at wineries on our way there and back (might be less appealing if you are 30 weeks).

Inn at Washington, reasonable drive from DC, good food with the menu printed with your name to make you feel special.

Antrim 1844 in Taneytown, MD. The food is excellent and they have specials where dinner, and afternoon drinks and breakfast are included. Nice grounds, but not so much to do that you'll be overtired. You could go to Gettysburg for a touristy afternoon.

If you liked Nemacolin and found level of luxury to be about right, you will not like Lansdowne: we went in the summer and it was a mess (food was awful, cleaning awful, programming poor, etc.,.). Sorry to be a downer on this. . . .

Why not stay super close and go to National Harbor? That way you maximize your time with DH and not driving.

I want to surprise my DH with an overnight trip for his bday....it is in a couple of weeks (middle of winter)..we can only get babysitting for one night so we are limited to how far we should travel for one night. Also, I'm 30 weeks pregnant with #2 so I can't do skiing or winter sports...any suggestions?
