I had a really awesome experience and meal at Makoto. It is pricey but worth it IMO.

sushi taro (more avant garde these days but still good)
tachibana ( authentic hands down)
kotobuki (small, neighborhood feel)
makoto (tres fancy, expensive sister restaurant of kotobuki)
sakana (does the minimal job with good cuts)

i used to be a murasaki fan based on proximity but have found questionable cuts the last few times.

Murasaki. The Japanese embassy staff are frequent customers.
The dinner menu is awesome.

Actually I thought those super fancy rolls were an Americanization of Japanese food. We always take Japanese clients to Tachibana in McLean when they want home-cooking.

I'm this PP, but just now read that you want "yummy rolls." Sushi Taro and Sushi Ko are very authentic--everythign is yummy, but they aren't big into rolls. They're too upscale for that.

While your snobbery made me smile, I have to tell you that Sushi Ko most definitely has rolls (ura maki). Apparently you're slumming it more than you realize when you go there...lol!

Please tell me what your favore sushi spot is in this area! I'd prefer to know about those with yummy special rolls.
