I have never gotten graded on individual work either. Just given feedback which is incorporated into my review.

OMG -- thank you, this is me. Sometimes when I think about it (was more than 8 years ago) I audibly suck in my breath...still!

That would annoy the crap out of me.

I was working with two major corporations on a government bid. Both corporations wanted to use our product for their solution but there were differences in both of their approaches. We were very careful to ensure both company bids were firewalled and ensured equal pricing for any duplicative products so we did not give an advantage to one over the other. I was the only person that knew each of their offers. I almost sent one of the companies pricing to the other. It was for a multi-million dollar government contract bid. That would have shut down the entire contracting process and could have resulted any number of legal and contracting outcomes.

I still get sick to my stomach when I think about it.

I once spent two hours transcribing a tape for my boss (who never learned to type), only to have a power outage wipe out all of my unsaved work. I quickly learned to set the "save every five minutes" feature. And I worked there for another eight years.

OP, I've switched invoices to 2 competitor clients in 2 different countries. Together they made around 50% of our profit at the time.

And I was not fired

Hi, OP--we've all been in your shoes! One time I ordered 5,000 envelopes, custom printed, with the flap on the wrong side. Duh. I learned quickly!

Another time I had 2,000 vinyl "portfolios" imprinted with the wrong name. When I told my boss he said, "Oh MY GOD." That's when I learned that you can remove gold-foil imprinting with rubbing alcohol and a pencil eraser.

And, yes, I'm still employed at the same company!

I used to have a boss who said, "Take a deep breath, mistakes happen." That's a good outlook!
