Why did you dig this up? I think most people are happy with Mr. Heatwole. Test scores aren't everything. He has been enthusiastic and well-prepared for parent meetings and my child knows who he is already from his presence on campus.

Great point!

"Great point?!?" Many schools in MCPS had subpar scores on state testing in 2012, and they were not just schools with low-income and ESOL students.

How did that promotion happen? Rock View has such subpar scores.

I've actually heard good things from parents in the community about Rock View.

Thanks 23:02! This will be an exciting week. I just took DD by the new site to show her where she will be next year. Thankfully she seems OK with the prospect of moving to #29.

Board voting on the principal should be complete on January 10th. They will announce afterwards.

Interviews for teachers will start in March.

I think MCCPTA is the county PTA, as opposed to the PTA at individual schools. Yep ... http://www.mccpta.com/

PTA will work with MCCPTA? Could it be MCPS?

From the PTA:

Interviews for the new principal were held on Monday, December 19. About 6 or 7
parents who represent the geographic and ethnic diversity of the new school were asked
to be on the interviewing panel. Mrs. Mills sent the invitations after about 25 parents
volunteered at the meeting.

New staff and teachers will be hired in March, before interviews start for the whole
school district.

The PTA will work with MCCPTA to develop a process for making sure both schools
have the leadership and funds they need to get started. This will begin in late January.
The current PTA board has three parents who will be staying at OTES and three who will
be going to the new school.

A process for naming the new school will be developed once the new principal has been
hired.
Another parent meeting with Mrs. Mills, Mrs. Pulliam, and the new principal will be held
some time in January 2012.

Has anyone heard anything about when they're announcing the new principal for the new Downcounty Consortium Elementary School #29 (McKinney Hills)?
