This. You don't go through customs and immigration when flying within the U.S. But just bring your legal to be in the US docs just in case they stop you for something else like pull you over in a car while in CA and try to arrest you for immigration violation.

My DH only ever flew with his DL when we flew domestically before he got his green card.

OP, for domestic travel (i.e., within the US, if you are here already), all you need is your passport. I may have my work permit with me, just in case, but your passport may already have some evidence of that (e.g., a certain stamped/included form).

I assume if she had a US passport, she wouldn't need a work permit for the US.

You want proof of your ability to *currently* be in the country legally, plus your other passport. You ability to legally work doesn't matter.

You don't need a document with regards to your work status to be able to fly within the US. You just need a government issued, photo ID. I assume you have a passport from your own country? Just bring that.

Has anyone fly in the country with a work permit ? I just applied for my green card and only have my work permit but will really like to go and visit my ill grandmother in California this weekend I really have to be back by Monday for work so is not like I can drive over there for days!!! And if you had fly to other state what document do you need?
