I don't make the bed, we also do not use a bed set (just the sheet on the mattress and a sheet on top) but we do organize toys and wash dishes. I am weird about anything that can be easily lost like earrings though.

We keep our house reasonably tidy, but not immaculate, and I'm basically lazy, but I like a clean kitchen and a bed that's made. I could lie and say I do those things for DH, as an example to our kids or a courtesy to guests, but, quite honestly, I do it for myself. I love to cook and our kitchen is really a lovely space to hang out in even when I'm not cooking. It's sunny with great views, so I want it to look and feel nice for me whether I'm cooking, reading the paper or working. Ditto the bed; when I go up to my room at night, I love to settle into a comfortably made bed with clean, crisp and pretty linens. There's nothing nicer than slipping under a cozy quilt to watch a movie or read a book . . . . well, maybe one thing nicer.

I have to make the bed before I leave the house. I also can't leave dishes in the sink. I think it is OCD.

This. I make it in the mornings because I know he likes it -but if he is out of town, I don't do it. And FWIW, the rest of our house is very clean and tidy. I just don't see the point since we walk out the door at 7am and back in the door at 6pm and by 7:30, there are two kids in it watching tv before bed.

We have a very neat house (I make an effort to put away toys each night because that makes me crazy) and I hardly ever make the bed. If I know people will be coming over, I will make it but otherwise, never. I don't spend a lot of time in my bedroom between getting up in the morning and going to bed at night so I rarely see my bed unless I am in it. Plus, DH works at home and (pre-kids) was still in bed when I was leaving in the morning. So, I never developed the habit of making it in the morning.

Having said that, if I were a guest in someone else's home, I would make the effort to make the bed.

I have to make my bed every morning-but ours just consists of pulling up the cover and throwing the extra pillows back on. DS is 5 and does his too (he is a little OCD).
This is the only tiny but of control I have over my life, the rest of my house is usually pretty messy, and there are perpetually dishes in the sink (where the hell do they all come from?!)
Like I tell my neighbors and friends, my house is really really clean from 10pm-6am, and my bed is always made, but that's about it

We have an extremely neat house (no housekeeper, just me). But I don't make beds. I've never done it. If I'm having guests over I will, but otherwise I don't bother. Having a neatly made bed just isn't a priority.

Our house is literally immaculate. We clean up every single day, put away all of DD's toys, it's neat and orderly. And we don't make the bed every day.

We don't make beds either. Sometimes I wil pull the blanket up quickly but usually not.
I have no issues with bed makers. It just isn't my priority in life. I think we are a pretty laid back family. The house is clean and reasonably organized but is well lived in. We have 6 people living in a 3 bedroom house so it can only ever be clean.
Neighbors and friends have commented that our house feels "comfortable". For a while I was concerned that they meant messy but after asking some close friends, who will tell the truth no matter what, they eleborated and said the house feels like people actually live here. It is not a amgazine picture.

My bed only gets maid if someone is coming over. I make sure that the essentials are done (like no dirty dishes, bathrooms are clean) but also couldn't care less if there are toys on the floor.

we don't make beds either. It is a royal waste of my time and no one appreicates it when I did make the beds. No one complains and I have better things to do than to spend 30 mins roaming from bedroom to bedroom to do something that will be undone in 12 hours.

I love how my bed looks when I make it, but not enough to bother doing it every day. Mornings are kind of rushed for us. I always make the bed if anyone will see it (company - including family), but otherwise I just pull up the covers and don't worry about it. I'm otherwise neat and definitely not a slacker.

To me, an unmade bed is just lazy and usually, but not always, reflective of a generally messy house. I've not found anyone who didn't make their bed who kept an otherwise neat house...but I'm a little OCD about this type of stuff so I'm probably not the best person to ask.
