I forgot to add that the irony is that my son's school actually has a stage. My daughter's does not.

My daughter's elementary school has yearly performances from all grades.
My son's elementary school does not.

OP, we are in the same boat. It's one of the things I miss most from the preschool years -- the performances were SOOO cute! The kindergarteners in our school will have a "music show" one day in May where they play xylophones and sticks, no singing. There isn't anything for first or second graders other than the "authors and artists" day, but that doesn't involve singing or music. They just show what they have written or drawn.
I think it may have to do with the fact that there are 110-125 students in kinder and first and second grades. Maybe the music teachers and regular teachers feel it is too much to pull it altogether? I don't know. Then there is also the issue of religion and not doing songs related to Xmas and Easter -- which is what they did in preschool and what I did when I was in parichial grade school. Those types of programs are missed!

That seems odd. I have two kids in FCPS (grades 3 & 5) and each grade generally have one performance per year (music teacher teaches them songs and they sing for the parents). One year some of the grades didn't perform though - which was odd. I think some of the parents raised a stink about it though...
Ask your principal or the music teacher what's up.

My child is new to FCPS and I just realized that the only performances at our school for music are for chorus, band, and strings which are electives in the upper grades. Is this typical? Are there other elementary schools in FCPS that have yearly performances for all grades? I think I had two each year growing up as a child in public school so I thought it was a bit strange that there are none now. We also had an elementary play one year and I haven't seen any plays listed at our FCPS school either although I wasn't anticipating that they would have this these days with the economy.
