I have used SACC (paid for the full service) just b/c I needed Mondays. It also was a factor that SACC was open for days when school was out but it wasn't a holiday (like fall break and teacher work days). I have also paid for private center-based aftercare for the same reason. I had no where else to go on Mondays.... and it cost me $600/mo. at the child care center.

I'm NOT a fan of the short Mondays.

IT's Wednesdays in Arlington County. My Flex Friday has become Flex Wednesday. I also WAH so I can get a 1/2 day in if I want.

Growing up, my best friend spent one afternoon a week after school with me. Her mom worked that day, and my mom was a SAHM. It worked well because we wanted to play together pretty much every day anyway. I'm not even sure I realized at the time that they had arranged it, I just thought we were playing together like always.

Maybe you can work something out with a friend's family and you could reciprocate by watching the kids for periodic sleepovers, or holiday weekend or something?

That's right . . . you have to pay for the whole week in SACC even if you only need it on Mondays. I don't know where you live, but I heard that Hunter Mill Day School will do single days (off Hunter Mill Rd. in Vienna).

If you don't get into SACC, local daycares and martial arts places also do aftercare. If you only need care on Monday afternoons, SACC is not an appropriate option anyway and I'd follow PP's advice above.

Yes. My neighbors both work FT and they have alwAys found a college student or home schooled teen (just happened to live in neighborhood.) I work pt and one yeAr I had to go in on Monday's. I found a mom in the neighborhood who used to babysit when her kids were little. She was now pt out of the house but home on Monday's for her kids so she watched mine. Ask around, you might be surprised and find another mom willing to make some extra money. Even if they Do not normally babysit one day is not a huge commitment so they might be willing to help. Good luck.

If you don't get into SACC, what do you do on monday afternoons? do people get babysitters? we would only need someone on mondays, so I'm puzzled about what others do.
