My girls are 5 and 2. For me, Fancy Nancy falls into a category with the Pinkilicious books, Angelina Ballerina, Disney Princess, Hello Kitty and some other girly stuff that I find a little too pink and glittery but that the girls seem to like to hear/read about, and like Thomas the Train and Spiderman books, encourages them to read. The one about choosing her dog shows that even though Nancy is into French and extra lace on everything, she can compromise and be thoughtful for her family's sake.

My 3yr old loves FN.

Fancy Nancy is great for vocabulary and also how to act appropriately and politely in a variety of situations (unlike some other series...ahem, Angelina Ballerina). My daughter didn't really get into it until about 4.5.

Chances are at least one of the two
will be... If not, I can't wait to see whatever it is they decide to be into. And if it's their older brother's toys, that's fine too!!! Don't care, love having my two girls and love having my boy... And love dressing them all girly while they are young enough to let me dress them however I want!

I really really want to know her sister's name...

We love Fancy Nancy. She is the girliest girly-girl I expose my daughter to. She has a good heart and is a good friend, teaches new vocabulary words, loves all things French, and takes good care of her sister. A great model for your girls.

Love Fancy Nancy. Was great for when my son read and I would want him to read my daughter while I got stuff done around the house. He enjoyed the books (normally hates girl stuff) because of the big words and she loves anything with pink. FN is cute and girlie but not dumb. 1 is young for the books, but no big deal. They'll grow into the books and enjoy the dolls in the meantime.

Fancy Nancy is probably targeted to 3-4 year olds, but dolls are dolls and they will grow into the books. I like Fancy Nancy because she's "girly," which is what attracts my 4 YO, but she's not a sissy and uses "big words." Cute stuff and a little smarter than average.

I fell in love with her because of my charges. My girl is 18 months old and I already bought her a bunch of FN's stuff. They don't get it util age 3-4 though and enjoy it until age 5-6.

They're too young, cute concept/ theme for learning and increasing vocab - not much more than that, but not appropriate really until they're about 5
