I'm going to make my usual plea here - OP, don't make a tenderloin. Why not? Because it's not very flavorful (albeit tender) and hideously overpriced. Its reputation is completely undeserved - people think because it's expensive it is the best cut of beef, when it's not even close. It's steak for people who don't like steak.

Having said all that, Costco has great prices on (not very high quality) meat. You also can fine some good deals at Harris Teeter, although that's hit or miss.

I also recommend Costco. We got Whole Foods this year and it was outrageously priced. (but delish.)

Oops - that should be $17.99 per pound!!

I made one on Christmas from Costco and it was absolutely delicious!! It was 17990 per pound trimmed. They had them much cheaper untrimmed, but I had so much to make that I didn't want to deal with trimming the tenderloin too!

Laugh, but I've always had good luck at Giant. At whofo, the cut I wanted was $100, at giant it was about $30. Not all stores will cut fresh at the meat counter, so I would call in advance, but you can get the size you need and fresh.
