Subject: Anyone else have no parties to attend this year?
I thought I was the only one off the guest list. You all make me feel better. Thanks.

We weren't invited to any other than work party thrown during day time. I'm glad actually.
We used to throw one each year, but we stopped once many of us had kids because we have a small home and there was complete chaos with things breaking and kids flipping out and trying to get all the stomped on cookie or other foods and knocked over drinks off the rug.
While I enjoyed holiday parties pre-kids, now it's an ordeal because we have to get a sitter and that's a big expense. I will enjoy it again and maybe have parties again once kids are older.

Just a kind of lame one for my husband's job.
I'm kind of bummed that none of my friends are throwing one, but not bummed enough to throw my own.

Thrilled about no parties but i do miss seeing all the fake hugs and people pretending they are interested in things.

No friend parties, just the obligatory ones for DH's work. Blah. At least the food was good.

This has been my vent for the past couple of years and then all of the sudden, this year, we had 3 plus we gave one b/c we didn't think anyone else would have one!
But, I agree, it is very very expensive (and exhausting!) to host a party.

We weren't invited to any parties either. I've noticed it dropping off over the past few years - just a couple last year and this year none. I think it might be that the people who hosted parties started having kids and also the economy. We just don't have any friends who have big parties. I'm sad about it actually. I know it's not a huge deal in the scheme of things and we do have friends, but I'm still sad.

No holiday parties for me, either. I don't work in an office. My friends don't have a lot of money to be throwing parties. It seems stressful to have a bunch of parties to attend when already busy with Christmas prep. I'm ok with a party-free holiday.

I am thrilled to have no holiday parties to attend, save for a New Year's Day brunch - we have three family Christmas celebrations to attend and that's plenty of places we need to be for me. Then again, I am 34 weeks pregnant and greedily hoarding all of my free time, so mabye I'm not the best person to comment on this.

We're in the same boat - it was depressing!!! We have 4 kids, ages 5 and under so too chaotic to entertain . Many of our friends are dealing with sick parents or job losses so not in the position to throw parties.

Some of my friends have millions of parties to go to this time of year. I have none. Neither my work nor my DH's have holiday parties with spouses (just daytime affairs). So, while I read all these posts about people trying to decide what to wear or venting about horrible parties they attended, I wonder if I am alone in receiving no invites.
