The one in Herndon is gorgeous and has a balcony where you can see into the actual baking site. My children loved trips there when they were young.

And I forgot to mention Cornucopia (Italian specialty market) has freshly made Italian cookies and more varities (french lace, etc.)

I know Bethesda has a couple bakeries (one by Strosniders and Spring Mill usually has decorated sugar cookies).
