Have the child draw a picture or pick a picture that is already drawn and get that transparent stiff paper (sorry so tired, can't think - they sell it at Target - it is sticky). Put it in that. If you are feeling really energetic, glue a magnet on the back for the fridge. This is good if you want the present to actually be from the grandchild (versus about the grandchild)
Buy some magnetic paper, find a good picture or two, and print out on the magnetic paper.
I know when I was a kid I made Christmas ornaments. Is your chid creative? Maybe find a recipe for "cookies" that when you bake they get hard, have them make a few ornaments.

OP.
Thanks for the suggestions. Not sure I can select the pics and have it printed by X-mas for calendar/book, but will definitely keep it in mind for next year.
DC is 6, if that helps.
Thanks!

Pictures of grandkids in a frame is always a good gift. Buy one of those family monogrammed frames.

We make a family photo calendar, will be getting extras.
Also getting some individual specific items of things to do with the kids. For example, my mom plays the piano so I got a book of kids songs for the kids to give her.

Copy of DCs' favorite books so the grandparents can read it to them when they come over?

We always do a photo calendar from Snapfish and a dvd of pics and videos from OneTrueMedia. They might have expedited service to get it by Christmas.

Any ideas? Something that can be purchased or made b/n now and Saturday?
