can anyone pls post a lonk to that ffx program? my 3yo HFA son is a good swimmer too, and we would love to start some classes for him as well. we are in north arlington as well

The FFX program the PP was referring to is called Adapted Aquatics. It is amazing. It is one on one but you are paying group lesson fees not private lesson fees. It is volunteer run but the instructors are very caring and competent. My 3 year old loves it. They offer it at Oak Marr and Cub run (and maybe Providence). The next seesion starts Jan 21st so you may want to sign up soon.

Since it's past the online sign up deadline, good luck, but we've had bang-up success with the regular old Arlington swim classes for our ASD kid.

I just make sure I touch base with the instructor *after* the first lesson -- keeping it casual but keeping communication open. I say after the first lesson so the instructor can form her own opinion about how to best teach him without having a label to work with first.

Swim instructors just amaze me with their patience and kindness. Go for it.

FFX pools have a swim program for kids with disabilities. I don't know any details but you might want to look into it.

Do you "hang out" at the pool often in the summer? This was the kicker for us. We spent several days per week at the pool...sometimes 5 days in the week we were there.

My ASD DS just turned 7. This past summer he surprised us all by learning to swim independently. It's amazing what a set of goggles will do for a kid who hates to put his head under water.

If you decide to do lessons this winter, keep it up because consistency is what makes it work.

Our 5 year old son has HFA and a good bit of anxiety about the water but is interested in learning to swim. He is sweet and funny and good to work with but needs someone with the right approach to make swimming fun and to motivate him. Anyone have any reccomendations for a swim instructor at an indoor pool. We are in North Arlington. Thanks!
