Is this a validation of Montessori or an indictment of DCPS?

My child went from Montessori K to traditional K (she has a November birthday, so did not make the DCPS cut-off of Sept 30).

No problems adjusting at all, I just miss Montessori. My younger DD is in Montessori and at this point I plan to move her at K. She is the right age for the DCPS cut-off so will only do 2 years of Montessori. I am moving her for social reasons, the majority of the K kids will have gone to the pre-K at our school and I do not want her to enter the group in first grade. I am, however, skipping pre-K despite that we are a shoe-in because of in-boundary sibling priority because I like Montessori education a lot.

How hard to you think it will be to switch later in elementary. My DC is in Montessori lower elementary right now but not sure I'll keep him there for all of elementary. At what age does it become harder to transition?

Aidan goes through 6th, not 8th.

Both my kids did 3 year of Mont. then transitioned to DCPS in 1st grade. Definitely the best decision for us.

I've actually heard great reports about kids going from Montessori to Deal. The Montessori kids are very adaptable and incredibly bright.

Yes. Age 4. No regrets. Many do it.

If so, at what age, and how did it go? Also, which school? Do you feel you made the right decision?
