OP. Just find it disconcerting that Deal is considered the very best DCPS option and every other parent I see, when I ask, how is school, replies, "They're getting Straight A's". Can't tell if that's good or bad, that's all. I don't know who put the stats out there but thanks. I guess my friends' kids are just very very smart. I wish mine could go to Deal but it's full.

Not the other poster, but I guess my question is do you feel your child is being pushed to express their capabilities and aspire? Rigor is relative in my mind because none of us care if it challenges another child if it does not challenge our or vice versa.

I'm willing to answer but give me a concrete definition of rigorous.

A relative of mine read a message board similar to DCUM in an urban area in the USA. He said that some postings were stupid and others were insightful. I checked out a few of the messages about schools. They made no sense. Something about a Mandarin school.

There are 399 children in the 6th grade class at Deal. Based on a quick count, roughly 85 kids made straight As (defined to include A minuses) - i.e., barely over 20%, and significantly below the number of JKLM students who matriculated. (Janney alone probably sent 65-70 students for 6th grade.) There are even fewer straight A students in the 7th and 8th grades. You do the math.

For anyone who cares, there is a completely list of honor students on the monthly newsletter available on the Deal web site. OP is just a troll.

DD got a C in math. But she ain't the brightest lightbulb

Don't play games. Make your point without flame-baiting rhetorical questions.
