This is another scary article about how honey from China is shipped via India to falsify the country of origin. The day before I originally read the article I had bought honey from Whole Foods that had the country listed as India. I promptly returned it and then bought some at the farmers market. This is also a good publication in general.

I avoid all food products and toys from China.

For years now, I avoid buying fish from China or some of the neighboring countries. They have horrible environmental problems. This is why much of the computer chip production moved to China -zero environmental laws.

The issue is Country of Origin Labeling (COOL). We need stronger regulations in this area. Here's a little info, though I'm sure there is much better info out there from some advocacy group.

I try to only buy food products that list their origin. Obviously, it's hard to know what goes into restaurant foods. While "organic" helps, there are countries where soil/air pollution is bad enough that even organic produce is pretty filthy, so I still want to know the country of origin. If no country of origin is listed, I tend to assume the worst.

Agree with PPs. I read labels, but they don't provide enough details. If I know a product is from China, I don't buy it, though.

I'm wondering the same thing. Some products list the origin but some don't, so it must not be required.

There've been a lot of problems with products from China over the past few years. I don't know the answer to your question, OP, but I'm very concerned about their oversight process.

Does anyone know if a resource exists detailing what types of food (including the manufacturer) have at least some component originating in China?

I have just read the information about fruit juice, and am wondering what other Chinese products (in whole or part) are out there.

Thanks!
