Obelisk. Best food, nicest staff, charming space.

I have been to Blue Duck Tavern 3-4 times and last time I went (about 2 months ago), I was not impressed. Very pricey for mediocre food. My husband agreed. The atmosphere is great though!

The food at Bistro du Coin is horrible, and the ambiance is also horrible. Cavernous, noisy, crowded. I never understand why people like to go here.
OP, try Black's in Bethesda or Zaytinya in DC.

Try Birch and Barley or Posto in Logan Circle or Smith Commons on H Street NE if you want to bar hop.

Subject: Date Night Restaurant
Quite unexpectedly, on Saturday DH and I are going to have our first real date night since we moved here this summer. Where should we go?!
It has to be somewhere we can get in to with short notice. We love good food but don't have hugely adventuresome palates. Ambiance is important and I want to dress up a little. Price doesn't matter and we'd like to go somewhere with other nicer restaurants/bars nearby so we can hop around and explore a little before/after dinner.
I think we'd prefer to eat in DC, but would probably be open to Arlington or Bethesda.
