This was me at that age. All I remember was it was a colossal bore and I couldn't wait to get back to my friends. How about a ITunes gift card? Or a phone card so he can call his friends? It's hard during holidays cuz all the friends are busy w/family too. Drawing pad/art set?

Honestly, you may want him to bring a few things he already has.

If you're looking for games, we love, Othello, Mastermind, or Battleship (2 people). Apples to Apples and Pit for group card games. You could probably find the former in travel size.

Go to the library the week before and get some books, or bring a puzzle. Or hey, put him to work in the kitchen or maybe he can spend time talking with his family members?

No, he's never been really into building.

We'll spend Christmas at my mom's, where there is no internet, and no x-box, and no siblings or cousins for my 12 year old to play with. In the past he's usually gotten some toys or electronics that occupy him for most of the day, but this year he's getting things like sports equipment, an online subscription to audible so he can pick out some new audiobooks, and maybe some Caps tickets. None of them are things he'll be able to use right away.

Even though I know he's going to love his gifts, I worry that Christmas will feel like a let down if he's bored by 10 a.m.., so I'd like to pick out some little things to stick in a stocking that will be fun. But I'm totally idea-less.

Suggestions?
