Mine does all the shopping with a list I make (I choose what we are having). He cooks the turkey and maybe one side dish. I feel it's very fair- I hate shopping for food.

We've discovered that the holiday meals stress me out but that he's cool with them. So he does most of the Thanksgiving cooking and has also been doing some of grocery shopping. I've been cleaning house and buying the rest of the groceries, and getting ready for house guests generally. I'll also be cooking regular meals for the guests and doing my share of cleaning up.

Make the turkey
Makes the gravy once the turkey's done
Roasts the sweet potatoes
Normally makes the cranberry sauce, but I already did it.
Carves the turkey

Makes pecan pie.
Cooks and carves the turkey.
Plays bartender.
Helps with clean-up.

Cleans up teh house in advance of guests, sets the table, runs to the store for last minute ingredients, and does the dishes ... I think it's a good deal.

This is me. We have an infant and a pre-schooler and I am purchasing dinner. It's just us and unless he wants to share in the work I'm not going to cook for 2 days.

Mine will pick up things I forget from the store, and will take responsibility for a couple of favorite dishes. He'll help some with clean up, and will be a good sport when I stress out about burning a pie or whatever else I screw up last minute. He'll also be a good host for our guests, and nice to the kids. Sure I wish he'd do more, but I also appreciate what I have!

He picks up extra stuff I need at the store, purchases ingredients and prepares the cocktails, gets down all the trays, sets the table, cleans the house, roasts the turkey, makes gravy and does 90% of the post-festivities cleaning. I plan, make menus, prepare shopping lists, do a lot of the shopping, make all sides and pies, and I do about 20% of the cleaning and preparation.

For those with the ones that do nothing, why put up with it? Not saying to leave them but just don't do it. He will get the message

We drive to a relatives house. But my DH shares the driving and will share in watching the kids while we are there.

Have you asked your DH to help with Thanksgiving?

Not a Damn thing! I was up til 1 am prepping for his family to arrive. I am at work and I can guarantee he is sitting in the sofa with the remote and laptop. And tomorrow will be the same except I will be cooking and playing hostess! Happy Thanksgiving!

God bless him my husband does all of the cooking and we share clean up. But he LOVES to cook so it was a natural decision for us.

He pays for it.

My husband does about half of all the cooking and cleaning for TG, in fact he's home right now doing prep work for the cooking tomorrow. We have a very egalitarian marriage, so this is not a surprise. He also doesn't like football.

Mine does nothing. Does not help with cleaning, shopping, cooking, zero. Starting to look pathetic. Watches football all day. This just doesn't feel evolved enough for me.
