Any recent experiences

We visited and wanted to run from this place. I felt like all hell was breaking loose when we were there. I was told we got in and then when we were there she said that she only had 2 days a week open. The whole place was just chaotic. Luckily we got in to a better fit!

We had friends whose child was there and turned out to have massive developmental delays. The school didn't even notice and if they did, they never said anything. I got the feeling the quality of care was never good. Our DD was in a different center and my friend was amazed even by the difference in the quality of food our DD got comparatively (their DD was getting canned/jarred fruit and ours was getting a wide variety of fresh fruit).

I don't really get this place - I'm on their 200+ person waitlist and every time I call to ask about the waitlist, they tell me someone will email me, but no one ever has. I'm SO glad I didn't have to pay a deposit to get on the waitlist, because I would be demanding my money back..

we were at a different center than ACC (though we're in preschool at Ballston Children's Center, a sister school) but I can speak to the "cribs in the same room" thing. Our infant daycare had the cribs in a different section of the same room, and it was never an issue. Our daughter was in that room from 6 weeks until about 12/14 months and she was able to sleep, no problem. The kids gradually moved to similar/same nap schedules so they were able to dim the lights at those times. Very sensitive kids who have trouble sleeping under less-than-ideal conditions might have issues, though. (our daughter can sleep pretty much anywhere, as can I.)

My friend got an ACC tour last year and now that I'm pregnant, I'm really glad I was able to tag along with her. I remember having a few concerns at the time so I'd be interested to hear from those who have infant room experience (my friend ended up at another Arlington center.) I'm guess I'm just not sure how realistic my expectations are since I am still in the early stages of the tour and wait list process.

1. The cribs were along one wall but not actually separated from the rest of the room. I know babies can adjust but is this set up common? My friend's day care actually has a separate area which just seems so much more calming and conducive for sleeping.

2. I was surprised to hear they prefer formula bottles. Unless the concern is actually about babies who haven't been able to transition from breastfeeding to bottles, I don't understand why this is the case. I plan on pumping so I would want to make sure that sending in prepared bottles of breast milk is not an issue.

3. The teachers seemed pretty quiet. Perhaps it was just due to the quick, first impression. It's been reassuring to read posts about how wonderful they are.

Was really happy with this center for infant and toddler care. Like pps have said, the teachers are wonderful and there is almost no turnover. Very rare to find that. We loved the teachers in the infant and twos rooms the best. The ratios don't seem quite as good in the older classrooms (3-pre-k) and there is less information provided to parents. But I still think this is a great center. Oh, great playground too.

I'm also looking for more recent feedback on Arlington Children's Center, particularly in regards to the quality of infant/toddler care. Would love to hear both positive and constructive thoughts.

We have been very, very happy with Arlington Children's Center. The teachers are wonderful -- a very caring and close-knit group. Turn over is quite low and I feel like all the teachers know and care for my child. The on-site play space for the older children is terrific, and the infant room is a warm, loving place. I drop in at all sorts of odd times and am always thrilled and reassured by what I see. I know it's a daycare, but in many ways it feels like a family. We feel very lucky to have gotten a spot!

Its a well run friendly center and I have no complaints. I believe there have been a few posts about them so you may want to do a search. We haven't been there long, but from my observation the teachers are caring, the place is well run and they try hard to create interesting activities for the children. It seems like several families have more than one child there, so that seems like a good sign.

Does anyone have any experience with having their child at the Arlington Children's Center located on Uhle street? Good or bad?
