TSA says that because your checked bags will have to be manually opened when the electronics show up on xray, which costs them time and money.

But I think the real risk is that electronics tend to disappear in transit.

Probably not a risk with the nebulizer, but the iPod deck could walk off. I'd put that in your carry on.

I just read that I shouldnt put oversized electronics in checked luggage, but what does that include?

I wanted to pack a portable nebulizer for my son's asthma. That's not too big - 4x6x2 inches or so. And a little round iPod dock/speaker thing to play music when I get there. That's a little bigger, maybe 8 inches in diameter.

Are these too big? Should I put them in carryon instead? Which I don't want to do - I'm trying to travel lightly.
