Good advice so far. Bring a along or carrier and a blanket. Baby will likely eat and/or sleep for much of the flight.

I think the key to keeping your blood pressure steady is to make friends all along the way. Look people in the eye in the line around you, in security and once you get on the plane.

(Most) travellers are asshats until you actually speak with them, with a smile. Then they melt.

Bring an extra top for yourself - if you do not, you are sure to be thrown up/pooped on.

Pack all of your >3 oz liquids. Ear the top of your carry-on, as you will need to remove them for security.

Some will disagree with me, but I am a big proponent of buying a seat for baby and installing the carseat on the plane, especially for longer flights.

Try to sit in the front section of the plane so that getting off is faster should the baby or you not tolerate the flight well. Minimize the number of things you are taking on the plane. No one likes to check their bag these days but you will be more relaxed if you feel you aren't juggling the baby, a diaper bag, purse, and whatever else you have with you. While you want to have enough diapers, minimum number of things makes it easier for you to manage getting up and down the narrow airplane aisle. Get a window seat -- more privacy for nursing and no one has to climb over you to get out of their seat. Also, people getting on the plane can be oblivious to their bags hitting the aisle seat passengers as they move by. Give yourself plenty of time to get through security.

+1; if they see bottles they will just do a test to make sure it is forumla/breastmilk and send you on your way. No need to worry about the 3 oz rule when it comes to those things.

Bring extra diapers and wipes, even for a short flight. You never know if your flight will be delayed, sit on the tarmac, etc. and you do not want to run out of diapers!

Nurse or give a bottle right before take off and and at landing if possible so they are swallowing when their ears might be popping. Otherwise, they'll probably sleep right through the flight.

Do not stress going through security. You will have a lot of stuff and it will take some time. This is not your fault. It is because of the current security measures. Stay calm and do what you need to do and don't worry about the people behind you.

That's a great age to travel. nurse/bottle during takeoff and landing, but otherwise the noise and motion will likely lull baby to sleep. Take extra diapers and burp cloths - my kid managed to pee through his diaper, poop and spit up all over on a one-hour flight. It was pretty classic
