Cake mixes are the biggest scam ever. Is it really that hard to add baking soda and baking powder yourself?

Only from scratch. If you can blend a mix with eggs, oil and water you can make cake from scratch.

Always from scratched. Here's a link to my favorite cake recipe: http://www.davidlebovitz.com/2010/06/almond-cake-recipe/

I make scratch cakes all the time. It really doesn't take much more time, like 15 minutes, for measuring and mixing ingredients.

I'd rather bake a cake once a month for my family than buy a box of ho-hos or twinkies, you know? Healthier snack food, homemade, still a treat, exciting to eat after dinner... get it?

Scratch. I used to use mixes, but realized it really doesn't take much more time to make it from scratch - we are talking a few minutes to measure the ingredients.

Mostly from scratch but sometimes from mixes.

Both. Always home made frosting though. The store stuff is full of partially hydrogenated oils...

Scratch. Always. Once in a while I'll use store bought frosting, but hardly ever.

Both. Depends on how much time I have.

I make them from scratch, it's really easy.

I use this recipe for chocolate cake - how much easier can you get and it's not full of 200 ingredients like the box stuff.

From scratch. Cake mixes are also full of preservatives and chemical ingredients.
