Hire a piano technician to check it out before you buy it. It will probably cost about $150, but it is worth it and if you decide against this piano, watching the technician go over the piano will help you evaluate the next piano.

There is also a blue book for used pianos. You can find them on the internet.

I like the sweetness of kawai pianos. We bought a 1985 52 inch upright Kawai for $5000 a few years back. It was in excellent condition.

I hate you, OP. I clicked on that link and now I really want to spend my "bathroom renovation" fund on a used baby grand piano.

Studio pianos are great - they don't take up too much room. only downside is that they are actually harder to move than a grand. (moving companies take the legs off of a grand.)

I think that looks right and I played 18 years on a Kawai and it was a great piano. Just a life tip, make sure you get it tuned minimum once a year. Happy playing!

We bought a brand-new studio Kawaii ten years ago and IIRC it was about $4K. So this doesn't seem outrageous to me.
