That is just silly. Not talking about catering, but since a dessert has to be chosen why not choose something that the kids will like? What's the joy in serving a dessert that only the adults like? There should be fun in the Holiday for everyone.

I like the idea of the turkey cookies or cupcakes or just serving ice cream!

There is no need to dumb-down a dessert to a kid's palate. You underestimate kids. Kids will never learn to like any desserts but silly little cookies if you cater to them. You ARE catering to them.

But otherwise I'd never get to make the cute turkey cookies! They are more important than Christmas cookies, especially for us Jews!

I agree!

Should we just agree to disagree? Not dumbing down dessert- I'm looking for ideas of dessert they will like. Kids appreciate dessert more than adults anyway and since I'm not catering to their tastes with the dinner selections I would at least like to make a dessert they will appreciate it. If you don't have any suggestions I'm not sure why you bothered to respond twice...

My family makes a yule log. I know, I know, it's a christmas dessert, but the whole family loves it and figured, why not have it twice a year.

I've used this Paula Dean recipe for pumpkin bars with cream cheese icing. It's delicious.

We do this but on cupcakes for the kids (and kids at heart)

We serve ice cream and sorbet as well as pies. Kids have never complained.

We have a bunch of children coming for Thanksgiving and I just realized that they probably won't eat pecan or pumpkin pie, so I'm making a peanut butter cream pie for the kids. Either the traditional version or a more involved version.

I am trying to find a dessert that my kids (7 and 5) will love for Thanksgiving. They do not like traditional pies, such as pecan, pumpkin or apple. I was thinking that they might like a chocolate cream pie, or something along those lines. Any other ideas for Thanksgiving dessert?
