I can't imagine why your HOA has a rule against this. I agree, you should fight, fight, fight.

Or maybe when you want to run around with your friend's dog, you should do it at your friend's house?

we don't care about Petey. If you let a pit bull near your kids you are insane.

Several friends of ours have bull terriers or Staffordshire terriers (aka "pit bulls") They have been great around our kids, no worries, no problems. These are also well traing dogs with caring owners.

The biggest problem is that they are the biggest mooches for food, OMG, anything at eye level they stare you down, whimper, and the sad eyes just to get a taste of the delectable morsel on the plate.

As far as the OP's question -- Clear it with the HOA, better not have them coming after you for an misinterpretation.

I always say the only reason to have a breed like a pit bull is if you have a side business running a meth lab or a gang.

The reason everyone else hates them is that when they bite, they bite to kill. Not necessarily the case with other breeds.

pit bulls may not bite the most, but when they bite they cause by far the most damage. Most serious maulings are caused by pit bull type breeds. The breed needs to be banned.

Collie needs a lot of exercise.
My guess is that visiting is OK. Living is not.
And if anyone asks, the owner could claim that it is not a real pure bread pit bull but a mutt that looks similar

As a former pit bull owner and advocate, this irritates the shit out of me. Pit bulls are strong, yes. Shepherds, dalmations, cocker spaniels, they all bite much more frequently than pit bulls. I lived in Ohio and was required to have a separate policy n my eg as non renters/homeowners insurance in the state would cover a pit bull related incident.

As far as your friend, always make sure the dog is on a leash and under someone's control at all times and if the animal is on your property, you are likely the responsible if anything were to happen. Maybe a call to your homeowners insurance to make sure all the bases are covered is in order.

OP, are you trying to throw a neighbor under the bus?

No clue. Ask the HOA. Sadly, breed-specific bans are useless. Regulating owner behavior like leash laws, etc. Is much better for safety.
