The previous posts still hold true. Well, I don't know about the PB situation. I buy organic chicken, milk, frozen and fresh veggies/fruit, and quinoa there. They started selling chia seeds (may or may not be organic) at the best price anywhere.

Bumping this - hoping to get more recent opinions on organic produce at the PC Costco. I dropped my membership last year because the place is always so crowded. Now that my DC is 1, I am looking for cheaper ways to purchase organic.

Thanks in advance for any more current experiences.

I have found the following organic produce at both locations:

box of organic greens
box of organic spinach
pre-cut apple packs
baby carrots
bags of carrots

all in the refrigerated produce room.

Pent. City has NO organic produce, save for the occasional raspberries 14:35 mentioned. For instance, they didn't even have these yesterday and had replaced them with the non-organic berries.

IMO that is truly pathetic, in light of the proliferation of organic producers in the US.

I go to both locations and Fairfax has more variety. Also, Fairfax has (but PC doesn't) a package of 18 or 24 organic eggs in recyclable (plastic) packaging that is certified cruelty-free. It's Kirkland brand. PC has something organic by a third party brand in foam packaging and I don't like that.

In the last few years, Costco has stepped up their organic offerings. I might not have found membership useful if they didn't. I wish they had more fresh produce dirty dozen organic offerings. Sometimes they have a big package of organic raspberries. Otherwise, not a ton of fresh organic produce (more frozen and other items as specified by PP).

Their organic milk is 1% and whole.

They don't stock the organic peanut butter anymore due to a price increases for peanuts. They hope to get it back, but have no idea if or when it will be.

Fairfax Costco has organic
chicken (whole, breast, thigh)
ground meat
whole wheat bread
hummus
butter
frozen trio veggies
frozen corn (as of last week)
eggs
jam
peanut butter (although they've been out the last two times I went--argh)
rice (occasionally)
quinoa
fresh baby carrots
fancy salad mix (the yuppie bitter kind--I like it but kiddos don't)
smoothies
chocolate milk (in the single serve portions)
fresh milk (we buy ours elsewhere so I can't remember the varieties)

The only time I went to the Pentagon City one, it seemed to have similar stuff, but I thought the place was a zoo so I don't go there anymore.

Costco's organic selection here is paltry compared to the warehouse we used to go to in the midwest, which is a bummer, but it's still better than nothing. The Fairfax one is very close to Wegman's so I usually stop there on the way back to get more organic stuff.

We shop at Costco, and buy organic chicken breast and thighs, milk, bread, olive oil, pasta sauce, granola. They also have a good selection of whole wheat pasta. I don't remember seeing much organic produce, but I don't tend to buy produce there - we don't go through it fast enough for it to make sense buying in bulk. But I do remember thinking that I was pleased to see more and more organic items to pop up there each time I went. I usually go to the Pentagon City store.

We joined BJs in Falls Church last year but are not planning to renew. I am really disappointed in the selection. Just about the only organic food they have is milk, and they don't even have organic whole milk in their own label anymore. I was a member of Costco years ago and I don't remember them having much organic food either, but I wonder if that has changed now that organic food has become more widely available in conventional stores? I'm particularly wondering about the Pentagon City store as that is the closest, but the Fairfax one is not much further so I'd like to know about that one too. The other option I'm considering is just not to be a member of any warehouse store and get everything at amazon/target/whole foods.
